Mary is the former medical director at the student health center at the University of Montana and a strong supporter of experiential education. First introduced to the wild outdoors through Outward Bound when in high school, she spent her college summers at geology field camp near Cardwell, MT.

After several decades as a physician in Guam, Mary and her family decided to embark on a family adventure. They lived on a boat for a year and a half and she and her husband home schooled their three daughters. The family traveled as far north as Glacier Bay in Alaska and as far south as Costa Rica and they cruised on both coasts of the continental US. After their boating adventure, the family settled in Montana. Mary has found Montana’s wide open spaces a great place to learn as well as to live and to work.
