Mission
The mission of the Wild Rockies Field Institute is to offer academically rigorous, field-based courses that help to develop engaged, informed citizens and strong leaders capable of addressing our society’s complex social and environmental issues. We accomplish this by offering courses that:
- Broaden the nature of a liberal arts education.
- Teach critical thinking about social and environmental issues.
- Foster understanding of and respect for natural and human communities.
- Cultivate a sense of place that encourages personal, social and environmental responsibility.
Values
The Wild Rockies Field Institute was founded on a strong set of values. The entire WRFI community – board members, staff, students, instructors and alumni – share a commitment to wilderness, education, responsibility, respect, and excellence. Together, these values define who we are and what we do.
