Anna Malvin
Anna’s love of outdoor environmental education was sparked when she attended a semester school program in high school where she not only attended typical high school classes, but also went on backpacking trips in Colorado and Utah throughout the semester. Inspired to have a background in science to teach outdoor environmental education, she went to the University of Vermont and earned a BSc in Wildlife Biology. After graduating, she moved first to Washington, then back home to New Mexico, where she’s from, and then followed in her brother’s footsteps to a small town tucked into the mountains of Southeastern British Columbia, where she currently calls home.
Along the way she’s worked as a farm and ranch hand, climbing coach, trail crew member, outdoor environmental educator, and baker (she can make a mean biscuit).
Recently, she earned an MA in English Studies, studying eco-criticism and how the humanities relate to the environment. She currently works as a program administrator for her local Nordic center and as an operations manager for her town’s community forest. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, skiing, biking, climbing, and dog-sitting all of her furry friends. She’s very excited to join the WRFI team!
