Ben Johnson

Instructor

Ben Johnson grew up exploring Montana’s Bitterroot Valley, and has spent the last dozen years living in various other parts of the mountain West, including Colorado, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Undergraduate studies in Humanities and graduate studies in Science Education, as well as Environment and Natural Resources (at Fort Lewis College and the University of Wyoming, respectively), provide Ben with a unique skill set covering the many disciplines inherent in the WRFI courses he teaches. He has been a WRFI instructor since 2013, having instructed the Montana Afoot and Afloat, Colorado Plateau, Summer Semester, and Cycle the Rockies courses for WRFI. When not teaching for WRFI, Ben is often lugging a heavy camera around in the backcountry, pursuing ski-mountaineering objectives that make his mother nervous, or working on his bike-short tanline for the next Cycle the Rockies course.
